Spotlight: Banyan Treatment Center

Bridging the Gap

Banyan Treatment Center has caught our eye, showing remarkable growth in Global Recovery Score (GRS), Resilience, and Pathology with their success rate with IOP being above the national average. These are the three overall scores for the Trac9 system. From these scores we can see an overall improvement with client treatments in Banyan’s IOP facilities.

When speaking with Banyan’s Senior Regional Executive Director, Ryan Steinberg, we learned that their centralized focus is resolving trauma and providing a menu of options for someone to utilize post discharge of treatment.

“We put a lot of emphasis on resolving and processing trauma. One of our largest initiatives is Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T.). Accelerated Resolution Therapy has been proven to work well in a short-term model.”

-Ryan Steinberg, LMHC, MBA

Banyan Treatment Center has been using Trac9 Informatics for 3 years and has continually proven that their hard work pays off. Notably, they see each patient as an individual and offer a variety of therapeutic programs to engage patients of various backgrounds, demographics, and life experiences. Banyan’s programs are designed to treat substance use, mental health, co-occurring, or eating disorders at 15 locations across the country. Additionally, they offer programs for unique populations such as active duty, veterans, executives, and individuals seeking faith based services. “The way that we have applied Trac9 is that we make sure that it is in the ethos of our company, that our clinicians all live and breathe, and really lean in on measurement based care while making decisions about treatment,” shares Ryan Steinberg.

Influential and leading in the SUD field, Banyan Treatment Center has a qualified team of Master’s level state licensed, and Ph.D. level clinicians. Banyan uses a science-based approach for recovery, by offering customized care backed by the highest of standards. They offer their patients a platform to take back their life after receiving the care they need. “My mentor, the Chief Officer Eric Oaks, who is a licensed Clinical Social Worker, has really challenged myself and the team to really think about if the person you are working with needs a higher level of care. And when you stop to really think about what that higher level of care looks like, the question is: “What do we have to do to bridge the gap between Residential and PHP?,” says Ryan Steinberg

The only way to deliver true balance in all forms of recovery is to bridge the divide between patient needs and the healthcare system, by identifying the problems first that have burdened individuals with Substance Use Disorder and Mental Health concerns. To do this we must lean heavily on evidence-based data and value, and the strength it can give to all sides. The need for predictive analytics helps forecast the behavior of patients and support therapists in their treatment plan. This allows for the clinical team to gain insight for each patient and identifies those that may leave against medical advice in the future, so they can intervene early on. Working together, we can reach a new standard of recovery that will improve the quality of care and deliver better outcomes.

One statement that really resonated with Trac9 was “If not us, where are they going to succeed?” With Banyan Treatment Centers being above the national average for IOP treatment programs, we thought the same thing.

“There are a lot of facilities that will write down or portray that they are co-occurring capable or that they treat co-occurring disorders, we really breathe treating cooccurring disorders. We are spending just as much time providing skill sets for sobriety as we are treating the underlying mental health diagnoses. We have specialized programs dedicated to primary mental health disorders, we use data to be able to help us individualize programing.”

-Ryan Steinberg, LMHC, MBA

Banyan Treatment Centers recently launched a nationwide Telehealth Program, which consists of a primary mental health program, substance use disorder program, as well as veterans specific groups. Here at Trac9, we are excited to see the results.
